Bourbon Street is a 5 year old gelding I have had since November 2022. He has been lightly restarted since coming off of the track in August 2022. He had left front knee surgery to remove chips which went well (records available). He clips, bathes, ties, crossties, leads without a chain, grooms easily, picks his hooves up nicely and from the opposite side. He also stands very well for the farrier & vet. No vices.

He does have sensitive skin, having required specific fly sprays during the summer. He does best in four shoes,

As far as work goes, he has been restarted both english and western. He doesn't neck rein yet and I ride in split reins. He has been doing walk & trot under saddle. Canter in the round pen with a saddle on, but I haven't ridden his canter yet. He knows ground work very well, as I taught him Monty Roberts style groundwork. He is working on lateral movements at the moment from the ground. He will rotate his back end around under saddle, but working on moving the front in conjunction.

He needs to work on extending through and collecting himself well. He still carries his head high and back hollow; but this is above my skill set to teach so I have been working on finding a trainer to help. We have trotted ground poles and cavalettis. He did walk over a few jumps with me as well, but that is the extent of jump experience for him. I have seen him jump logs in the pasture easily. He will follow me around the round pen with no halter or rope and move in conjunction with my movements.

Behavior wise, he is very quiet. He will hack out alone, but does get a bit sour around the gate. He is very calm, and has never spooked on me. He mostly is a sleepy guy, and enjoys relaxing and going slow. He would be great for lessons; he is very gentle and slow going.

Health wise he is sound. He just got all of his fall shots done and coggins in February. He has had one chiro session and his teeth were floated Jan 2022. The chiro did say he has some scar tissue around his right hip, but mostly it does not bother him. He has no other ailments.
