Hey Congrats is a lovely, 9 year old, 16.1 hand, bay gelding that came to us in partnership with Aftercare Charles Town. He is a warhorse in our books, having retired after 48 races last year with a soft tissue injury that has now had plenty of time to heal. This Kentucky-bred gelding is by Congrats and out of a Chelsey Cat mare.

Hey Congrats came to us in good condition and having been well handled after spending much of the last year with inmates at the James River Horse Foundation in Virginia. After getting rehabilitated from a high suspensory injury in a hind leg, he received plenty of hands-on attention and time to be a horse so that when he came to ATR he would be ready to start back in work and find a new home.

He had a good intake evaluation with our vet. In addition to finding him adorable and good to handle, she thought he looked well enough to start back under saddle and thinks he'll do great in a pleasure type home. We have had a couple rides on him and he has been fantastic! He happily walk, trotted around in the round pen for his first ride and then we had him in our big arena for his second ride. He seems to have a great temperament and we feel that he will be a terrific partner for an active pleasure rider.
