Description

Robert was adopted in late July by David in New York. David has a lovely farm and was looking for another horse to be a companion and buddy on the farm as well as a light riding horse. We just know the two are going to get along swell. Robert will be much missed here!

Original post:

Yes Sir Bob is a very pretty, 6 year old, almost 16.2 hand, grey gelding coming to us by way of Aftercare Charles Town. He raced only 3 times, all in 2021 and was in training in 2022, with his most recent workout being on 8/20/22. He was forced into retirement after not having run in any recent races.

Bob is by Your ABC's (by Alphabet Soup), and out of a You And I mare (by Kris S). He was bred in West Virginia.

At some point in Bob's career he had an apical sesamoid fracture which has since healed. Radiographs show no significant changes or arthritis in the fetlock. Our vet thinks he'll do great as a dressage or pleasure horse, even a trail horse that hops over logs to get from point A to B on a trail. He'd just do best in a non-jumping home. Other than that the sky is the limit.

Bob's is a very kind, sweet horse who arrived a bit headshy but is very trusting now. He loves to be groomed and has not put a foot wrong here. He has been turned out with other geldings and a mini mare and gets along very well with other horses. He even lets the mini call the shots!

Bob has been back in work doing walk/trot so far while the footing is so hard. He's eager to please and pleasant and expressive. He is green but tries very hard. He's starting to understand how to move off the leg and stands very well for mounting. He'll also walk/trot over poles and walk over small cross rails without batting an eye.

He's a pretty cool dude, ready for an experienced rider to continue bringing him along.
