Description
For good reason, there was a lot of interest and competition for this horse, but ultimately only one of Thor. Thor was adopted in September of 2016 by event rider Mark in North Carolina. We are looking forward to hearing about this horse doing big things in the future!

“Thor” is a stellar gelding that’s 7 years old and stands 17-17.1 hands tall. Thor retired through Penn National’s New Start program, and while he raced only seven days before arriving at After the Races, he’s been nothing but a class act in the barn.
Unlike most horses we get, Thor has something of a special history. After doing fairly well on the flat as a racehorse, Thor was brought back to the farm and trained up for a steeplechase career. After coming back to the track in 2016 for a couple warm-up races, they discovered he was a “bleeder.” While this won’t affect him in any future career beyond racing, it allowed him to go ahead and retire sound and sane and ready to pursue a new career.
Thor had a great vet evaluation. He has strong, clean legs, is very sound, and we think has true upper level potential.
