Description
Moon went to his new home in Kentucky in March of 2026!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RunAwayToTheMoon is a big, approximately 16.3 hand, turning 6 years old, grey gelding that came to us in partnership with New Start based out of Penn National. This handsome guy raced just 12 times and is retired sound after a lackluster career on the track.
RunAwayToTheMoon is by Warrior's Reward and out of a Runaway Groom mare which means he has some classy breeding. He reportedly had tie-back surgery as a 2 year old with no complications. He went on to race just fine without any issues, so it's very unlikely he'll have any limitations off the track!
His intake evaluation with our vet went great. Our vet found him clean and sound and ready to rock and roll into a new career. Unfortunately, this guy really does have the attitude of a big horse that knows he's big. While he's good for the basics (leading in/out, blanketing, etc) he is pretty grumpy for most everything else. Being turned out with other horses for a while has helped a lot, but he's a special case. He was scoped to check for ulcers and his stomach and pylorus were both beautifully clean.
Moon is available to someone with a lot of experience working with green horses, particularly remedial cases as whoever adopts him needs to find a way to crack through his tough exterior. Unfortunately with the winter weather we've had we just haven't been able to work with him consistently to make much progress.
Other than being grumpy, Moon has no vices , is front shod, and has been happily turned out with a couple different geldings and a miniature horse mare without issue. He's a nice horse in turnout and again, is good for the basics of catching, leading, blanketing, etc with a competent handler.
