Description
Prince of Pirates is a handsome 3 year old gelding who arrived from Penn National’s New Start For Horses program. He is a Kentucky bred son of Bellamy Road and raced 11 times.
“Pirate” was gelded upon retirement though does not seem to have known he was ever intact. He’s very sweet and loves to play and has not shown too much interest in our mares (though we’d recommend keeping him separate from them still for several months). This horse is very sound. While one fetlock looks a little puffy we took some x-rays and it’s clean! He passed his evaluation with our veterinarian on November 17th and is not expected to have any limitations, but we always recommend full PPEs to people with true upper level aspirations.
Right now we’ve started Pirate into light work. He’s currently being ridden primarily in the round pen and is a bit on the lazy side. He has a lovely canter though and a nice trot. He has no vices and would be a nice candidate for someone looking to do the 2017 RRP.
