Description
Praghas Ceart is a large, 7 year old, bay gelding that came to After the Races directly from its racing connections. His Irish name is pronounced "prices cart" and means "The Price is Right!" This handsome guy was bred in Ireland for steeplechase racing and, after being imported to the US, started his racing career over fences. He raced 9 times and retired in March of 2025 after a minor tendon injury from which he has fully recovered.
PC had a great intake evaluation with our veterinarian who found him very sound and classy. She did not expect he should have any known limitations. He is also barefoot and has been for the past year, which means he's had time to grow some nice feet.
In addition to his steeplechase career, he has reportedly done some dressage lessons and plenty of hacking over the years (steeplechase horses generally train by riding out cross country). That said, he's had most of the last year off and we'll be getting him going again before we decide what's next for him.
PC has no vices and was very loved by his racing connections. They said he's a sweet boy, a bit of a goof ball, and a really nice horse to work with. While he won't be a beginner horse by any means right now, he likely will be one that a confident adult amateur could have a lot of fun with, and is nice enough for professionals to consider as well.
Stay tuned for more information and photos!
