Description
On It was adopted by a close friend of After the Races in March of 2023. She will be taking her time to become the best riding partner on trails or in the dressage ring, or wherever their path takes them. We could not be happier for them both!

On It is a 2019 grey filly who recently arrived by way of Aftercare Charles Town. She is by Fiber Sonde and out of a Great Notion mare. She raced just 4 times, and though her last race was in May, she's had plenty of timed workouts since then.
"Onix" retired simply because she had a history of EIPH when racing (bleeding in her nostrils). While this sounds scary, it's actually very common in racing and not a condition that will limit her next career, with the possible exception of something like 5* level eventing, and if you get to that point, most horses do really well with nasal strips!
She was beautifully sound for her vet evaluation and excellent for the farrier the very next day. She's a clean horse with no expected limitations, even with the tiniest of heart murmurs (grade 1, slight mitral valve regurgitation).
Onix is also proving very easy going and quiet to handle. She took right to turnout with two mares and a gelding without any issues. She's currently on the submissive side, but friendly. She has no vices, loves to snuggle, and is absolutely beautiful.
Onix has had several rides under her belt now and is really establishing a nice walk, trot, and canter for a greenie (she is still green). She's also done poles and very small cross rails. We have also trailered her off the farm for adventures at Fair Hill and she took to everything like an absolute professional.
She is quiet, sweet, slow, and doesn't care if she's 100 yards behind the group of horses she's with. She looks at things instead of spooking, and then walks right on again. She dove right into water, dropped right down some natural banks on the trail, and has given us 100% at every opportunity. We cannot understate how nice this mare is.
