Northern Flame is a 5 year old, bay gelding that came to us in partnership with Beyond the Wire in Maryland. While he once sold for $425,000 as a yearling, he only earned just slightly more than that during his career of 21 races. He is by Flameaway and out of a Bernadini mare.

Flame was reportedly lame after his last race and a subsequent bone scan done revealed some arthritic changes in a couple places as well as an OCD that was likely causing him discomfort. His trainer did not want to push him once that was brought to light, and so he made his way to us.

We are working to put his history together in time for his intake evaluation with our vet which will happen shortly. We hope to learn what his current comfort level is, and what his prognosis is for a new riding career so we can best set him up for success.
