Northern Flame was adopted in August of 2026 by a wonderful local adopter in Kennett Square who is excited to have him join his small herd as a companion horse, with long-term goals of potentially doing some very light pleasure riding. We are so excited for the match and know he's going to have the best life in his new home!

Original post:

Northern Flame is a 5 year old, bay gelding that came to us in partnership with Beyond the Wire in Maryland. While he once sold for $425,000 as a yearling, he only earned just slightly more than that during his career of 21 races. He is by Flameaway and out of a Bernadini mare.

Earlier in Flame's career, an OCD was found in his stifle, but he since went on to race successfully without any aggressive treatment. He arrived jogging nice and sound, which our vet was very happy about. She's hopeful he just needs a lower key lifestyle than one as a racehorse. Northern Flame was given plenty of time to let down after racing and is both sound and starting to go back to work!

Flame is a very good boy, very kind, and we know his racing connections were very fond of him. He has no vices and gets along well with his pasturemate. We've just started him under saddle and he's very straightforward, even a bit of a kick ride, and should be one to consider for the adult amateurs out there looking for their next pleasure horse or lower level show horse!
