Description
Nearly a Lady is a 4 year old, 15.3 hand, bay filly that came to us in partnership with Beyond the Wire in Maryland. Her race trainer was very fond of her and said she is a very affectionate mare that is very spoiled and enjoys peppermints, carrots, and even sweet potatoes!
Lady is by Algorithms and out of a Flatter mare. She raced 10 times and retired in May with a sesamoid fracture that was reviewed by the wonderful surgeon Patty Hogan who thought she'll have a good prognosis for a second career. She was adopted in September of 2025 but returned in January because the adopter just had no time for her. Our vet has evaluated Lady upon her return and said she is super cute and very sound! Suitable for lower level jumping or any activities on the flat.
Lady has no vices, is very personable, and is an easy one to fall in love with. She has been turned out with geldings and mares without issue. We've only had one evaluation ride on her in January and she looked and felt like she's going to be one fancy horse once she gets in a program and learns to carry herself. She's very green, so not for beginners, but seems to try hard. She'd do best with someone with the experience to bring along a greenie that will enjoy the process! A very confident adult amateur who works closely with a trainer would also likely do well with her.
