Nearly a Lady is a 4 year old, 15.3 hand, bay filly that came to us in partnership with Beyond the Wire in Maryland. Her race trainer was very fond of her and said she is a very affectionate mare that is very spoiled and enjoys peppermints, carrots, and even sweet potatoes!

Lady is by Algorithms and out of a Flatter mare. She raced 10 times and retired in May with a sesamoid fracture that was reviewed by the wonderful surgeon Patty Hogan who thought she'll have a good prognosis for a second career.

She's settling into her routine here at After the Races but has shown no vices, is very personable, and we think will be an easy one to fall in love with. Her rehab will likely follow the path of stall rest followed by a gradual increase in hand walking, small paddock turnout, and then hopefully return to riding in around 4 months, but we will update her page as she progresses!
