Description
Rogelio was adopted in July of 2017 by Krista and Kaitlyn in NY who were looking for a horse for Kaitlyn to grow with in the hunter ring, dressage, and on trails. The two were a great fit here at the farm and we can’t wait to hear how things progress!

“Rogelio” is a really striking, 2009 gelding by Defrere that stands at 16.2 hands. Like most Defrere babies we’ve had, Rogelio seems to be made of iron. He’s big, has substantial bone, and presence that makes him stand out in a crowd. Rogelio is also a warhorse, having raced 60 times and retired through Parx racetrack’s Turning for Home program. He arrived to After the Races at the very end of February.
Rogelio is beautiful, incredibly kind, and very clean legged for a warhorse. He’s also a nice mover. His sweet, eager-to-please temperament will make him a great partner for his next owner as well as an easy favorite in the barn. We know he’s a favorite here! He doesn’t love to be brushed and is a smidge girthy but we’ve ruled out Lyme or ulcers as a cause. If you can look past that/work with it, he loves to be ridden and is great under saddle (though still green).
He’s not expected to have any limitations and is just getting back into a riding program. He is 100% sound with no vices.
