In The News is, probably not by surprise, a daughter of our other ATR resident News Makin! She is a 6 year old, 15.2 hand, big-bodied, bay mare, just like her mama. She came to us by way of Aftercare Charles Town and is expected to have a good future ahead of her.

She raced 7 times and retired after her last race at the end of 2022. She has had the time since then off to recover from what appeared to be a non-displaced slab fracture. The surgeon that monitored her progress prior to coming to ATR says that it has healed with minimal arthritic changes and she should do well. To best set her up for success, he suggested we turn her out for 90 more days and let mother nature strengthen everything up.

In The News was turned out with a gelding and a miniature horse mare with no issues. She did sustain a small flesh wound though that she is currently inside recovering from. She will have a full recovery once healed, but is on stall rest til that point.

She's very sweet, easy to handle, and has no vices. It's amazing to us how much she resembles her mother as well.

In The News will be eligible for our Recover at Home program up until October.
