Howie was adopted in December of 2022 by repeat adopter Whitney in Maryland. Whitney is looking forward to bringing him along slowly as her next prospect for dressage, trails, or whatever he fancies. He joins three other ATR grads at her farm and we could not be happier for him!
Howard's Rock is a 3 year old, liver chestnut gelding who arrived by way of Beyond the Wire in Maryland. He stands just over 15.1 hands right now and is currently butt-high, so has some growing left to do. He is a Maryland-bred gelding by Golden Lad and out of a Speightstown mare, and is certainly eye catching!
This sweet boy raced 11 times, with his last race just in October. The vet at the track did not expect him to have any long-term limitations, though he had some changes to one ankle. We dug deeper into things on the farm and our vet believes he has a very small, green osslet that is already well on its way to setting. He jogged sound for his eval and quickly won over the vet and the techs that worked on him with his sensible demeanor.
Our vet doesn't think he'll have any limitations in the future, just needs a bit of time to let down and be a horse. He is available to someone willing to give him at least a month or two before restarting him.
Howard has no vices, is easy to handle, and is a pretty straightforward guy. He gets a little hangry at mealtimes, not unlike a lot of racehorses, but otherwise is happy to be fussed over.
