Description
Gator was adopted in December of 2025 by Melissa in Ohio. Melissa has a ton of experience bringing along OTTBs and is excited to bring Gator along as her next partner in hopefully jumpers and low level dressage. We can't wait to get updates on this pair as they grow as a team!

Original post:
Gator Twenty Five is a 7 year old, 15.1 hand, bay mare who came to us in partnership with Aftercare Charles Town. She raced 7 times, never hitting the board, and retired sound! Gator is by Poseidon's Warrior and out of a Valid Appeal mare. This means she's also a granddaughter of Speightstown!
Gator is a smaller mare and she was sound when evaluated by a great vet in West Virginia and she got a clean evaluation with our veterinarian here at ATR as well! Gator went to a farm with ACT in January to work on putting weight on and correcting her feet which had been in bad shape. She was treated for ulcers in April and then really started putting weight on and looking good. Her feet are also in much better shape, so they decided it was time for her to move on to After the Races for the next steps of getting her back into work and adopted.
Since being with us and getting some time to settle in, Gator has been great to handle, stands on ties in the wash stall, and is good to groom. We've had a few rides on her now and while she still needs some work with the mounting block and starts off a bit forward, she has been settling nicely as the ride progresses. Gator is available to someone very comfortable with restarting green horses off the track. While she may need to spend a bit more time than average on the basics, we think she's going to be great once she gets rolling in a consistent program.
