Description
Amelia was adopted in late August, 2017 by Kristy in Delaware who is very excited to have her as a dressage prospect. Early reports are that Amelia is settling in very well and we can’t wait to hear how they progress in work!

“Amelia” is a 7 year old, 15.3 hand chestnut mare that raced 27 times before retiring through Monmouth Park’s Second Call program. She technically was meant to retire in November of 2016 but one of her connections decided to give her another try this summer, in which she reiterated the point that racing was no longer for her!
Amelia had a great evaluation with our vet mid-July, who could find no faults with her. She has clean legs, is very sound, and our vet felt she could be quite competitive if that’s what an adopter seeks. In the barn, she’s very easy going, well-mannered, and gets along well with other horses.
Under saddle, Amelia is wonderful. She goes right to work, likes to keep herself in a natural frame, but is learning to stretch and go long and low as well after just two rides. She has a lovely, balanced trot, and gets both leads at the canter without effort. She would be suitable for most intermediate or better riders.
