DrinkWithTheStars found his new home with Melissa in July of 2026. Melissa has an older horse that she is retiring and wanted to find a new trail riding partner. Have fun out on the trails and on future adventures together!

DrinkWithTheStars is a 7 year old, 16.1 hand, bay gelding that came to us in partnership with Aftercare Charles Town. He is a very cool gelding with classy breeding, being by Windsor Castle and out of a Dixie Union mare. "Cosmo" raced 21 times and after racing traveled down to the James River Horse Foundation where he spent a year in the care of Virginia DOC inmates.

Cosmo had a wonderful intake evaluation with our veterinarian. While radiographs of his knees aren't pretty, he hasn't read them! Cosmo has shown good range of motion in his knees and is very sound, even barefoot. Our vet thought he'd do very well in any non-jumping career.

Cosmo has been lightly restarted here at After the Races and is a joy to work with. He has an easy way of going and loves stretching and can go very nicely on a loose rein. He's done walk, trot, and canter with us (and has a lovely canter for a green OTTB), and walked and trotted over some ground poles. Cosmo recently had his first ride out in Fair Hill and was fantastic! He went through water, over bridges, and took turns leading and following in the group. We think he'd do great in an active pleasure home, low level dressage home, and as a trail horse.

If you're that person who enjoys a casual ride, he has a lot to offer. He's barefoot, has no vices, and has been turned out with mares and geldings without issue. Definitely worth considering for those who prefer a horse that keeps its feet on the ground!
