Description
Dont Gotta Tell Me is a 4 year old, bay filly just shy of 16 hands that came to us in partnership with Beyond the Wire in Maryland. While this girl did a good bit of training at the track, she only had one race in May of this year in which she did not hit the board. She was bred in Kentucky and is by Tourist (by Tiznow) and out of an Indian Charlie mare.
Our vet found "Telly" to have clean legs and she has no reported injuries. She does have a mild club foot but correct, consistent shoeing has improved its appearance and helped her stay very sound. She has no vices and is turned out with both mares and geldings without issues.
Telly is a horse seeking a non-riding home. When we brought her back into work, she made it clear that her back was painful. Despite treatment with NSAIDs and a consistent physical therapy program aimed at improving strength and topline, she continued to show discomfort. Radiographs revealed kissing spine lesions extending from the base of her withers through to her lumbar spine. At this time, it is unclear whether surgical intervention would be beneficial, and for her comfort and long-term wellbeing, we are seeking a placement that does not involve riding.
What Telly does offer is a truly lovely temperament. She is kind, easy to handle, and a pleasure to work around. She would make an excellent teaching horse for handling and horsemanship, or a non-ridden therapy or companion horse. We have reached out to universities and therapy programs known to us in hopes of finding that ideal placement, but unfortunately no openings have been available.
Telly would also be well suited to a home that enjoys liberty work, in-hand obstacle or trail courses, or horse agility, activities we think she would genuinely enjoy and thrive in.
Her adoption fee would be waived for an accredited nonprofit with exceptional references or a trusted university program.
