Description
Delmar was adopted in March, 2017 by repeat adopter Natalie in New Jersey. Natalie enjoys hunters and equitation and previously adopted MakesMeDance from ATR to do the same. She’s hoping Delmar will be her next best buddy and partner in crime in addition to a fun horse to bring along. Knowing Delmar, we’re sure he will be.

Original post:
“Delmar” is a handsome 16+ hand chestnut gelding who came to After the Races by way of Second Call, the retirement program at Monmouth Park. This 6 year old is by Argentinian stallion Candy Ride and sold for $230,000 as a yearling! He raced 15 times and made over $100,000 before straining a tendon at the track.
Delmar has completed his rehab and is ready to go back into work, we’ve just been unable to do too much over the winter due to the weather. We have been able to get a few rides in on him and he’s been one of the quietest horses that’s come through. Delmar will walk/trot with intermediate or better riders right now, and could probably handle beginners in a structured environment. He should not have any limitations due to his tendon and we’re really excited about him. Delmar is the quietest, safest horse in the barn to handle and work with and we expect him to be similar in work. Just one excellent brain.
Delmar does crib mildly indoors, but has no other vices.
