Constantine is a good sized, 3 year old, bay gelding that came to us in partnership with New Start and from Penn National. He raced 9 times and retired sound, without ever crossing the wire out in front. He is by Wicked Strong and out of an Any Given Saturday mare, meaning he's got Hard Spun, Charismatic, Distorted Humor, and Roman Ruler all near the top of his pedigree.

While an absolute looker, Constantine arrived with some dermatitis on both hinds and has been feeling a bit sensitive about it. While our vet thought he looked good, she recommended turning him out for a month and working to clean that up while he settles into life on the farm. He's now happily turned out with The Gatekeeper and we'll be sure to get in another update with the vet once his skin clears up.

Constantine has no known history of injury or limitations and we expect has a bright future ahead of him. He has been reactive with his hind legs since arrival, which our vet and farrier both believe is likely linked to the dermatitis. We'll be taking our time to work with him and get that cleared up, but it's worth noting and being aware of should someone be interested in taking a chance on him sooner than later.

Other than his hind legs, he enjoys attention and grooming and seems like a bright, happy fellow. We are hopeful he just needs to settle in, enjoy some turnout, and will feel and do much better once his skin clears up and he gets to know us. Stay tuned for more updates!
