Castle of Caylee is a pretty,9 year old, grey warhorse mare that came to us in partnership with Aftercare Charles Town! This girl raced 54 times, all at Charles Town, with her last race in August of 2024. She is by Windsor Castle and out of an Even the Score mare.

Caylee retired with a bowed tendon. At the time of arrival it was still pretty fresh. The injury itself went fairly low into the tendon sheath. We helped her out with Prostride and shockwave therapies during the course of her acute rehabilitation phase.

Caylee is now turned out in a large field with another filly and a few geldings. She's sound and has been quite nice to work with in hand. Our vet has cleared her to come back to work and she has had her first ride under saddle.

Personality wise, Caylee was nervous with people when she first arrived but has since warmed up quite a lot. She seems to very much enjoy doing work with someone in hand. She loves peppermints, and is getting better at tolerating the wash stall and being groomed. She has no vices and seems to want that connection, so just needs the right person who will meet her at her level.

Caylee has been restarted undersaddle and our vet expects her to be a flat-only type horse with activities like pleasure riding, dressage, flat hunter classes, paper chases, all within reach. She could hop over a log to get from point A to point B on a trail, but otherwise no jumping is recommended. Thankfully there are plenty of us who love to ride that don't feel the need to jump so we're sure the right person will come along.
