Description
Breaking Bullet is a 16.1 hand, 5 year old, bay mare that came to us in partnership with Aftercare Charles Town. Bullet raced 38 times and made a little money in spite of only winning one race. After her last race in August her connections decided it was time for her to retire. This filly is by Bullet Gone Astray and out of a More than Ready mare.
Upon retirement she was evaluated at the track by a great vet (also a surgeon) who found her sound. She was then moved to a farm to await space to open up at ATR. Bullet was sound on arrival but of course hoof sore a week later when the vet came to do her intake evaluation. Good news is she blocked out to the foot and has since gotten some shoes and is feeling much better.
Bullet was also pretty stiff on arrival so we've been doing some physical therapy in the form of some chiro and a series of neck stretches every day and we're also seeing improvement there. Thankfully she's a willing participant and does very well with her stretches and we're starting to see some real improvement.
While Bullet is available to someone willing to take a chance on her and help her continue to loosen up and feel good, we'll certainly update her page once we're able to start getting on her. At this point, she's not expected to have any limitations!
