Adversary is an adorable, 4 year old, 16 hand, bay gelding that came to us in September. He was directly placed into our care by caring racing connections who wished to support his transition to a new career. Adversary is a Florida bred gelding that sold for $60,000 as a 2 year old, likely due in no small part to is pedigree, which boasts Tale of Ekati, Malibu Moon, War Front and Sky Mesa all a couple generations back.

Adversary retired after just 14 races. His connections chose to retire him responsibly after he came up a bit sore in one knee after his last workout. Radiographs showed very minor changes to the upper joint of one knee. Even though he had a great prognosis for returning to racing, they chose to instead to let him retire early so he could have a successful second career.

Our vet thought he looked great upon arrival. Both knees had great range of motion and he was even sound barefoot. He did have some mild swelling in his left hind from a very small wound that has since resolved and she thought he had an excellent prognosis for his next career. He has no expected limitations and his previous radiographs are available.

Adversary has no vices and has been a very good boy since arrival. Like most of our horses, he's getting some down time to relax and settle in to life on our farm before we begin his retraining, but also like all our horses, he is available to the right home with the right experience to bring them along themselves. We're in no hurry though and are looking forward to getting him back to work soon! This guy seems like he'd make a really cool project for an adult amateur or skilled teen rider looking for their next partner.
