Sun Hunter, nicknamed Sole, is a cute 15.2 hand liver chestnut gelding. He is exceptionally calm, would stand crosstied for hours, and loves being messed with. He’s been handled and even jogged by children and is very kind and patient with them.
Sole had a bit of a rough time recovering from a racing injury and now has some arthritis in one ankle, but it really doesn’t bother him most days. We had him evaluated recently by a vet, and Sole is certainly sound for light riding or beginner lessons or even some easy trails, but not for strenuous work. This said, we’re working with him to desensitize him to all kinds of strange objects and distractions and situations in the hopes we could find him a home as a therapeutic riding horse. He certainly has the disposition for it and we have yet to see him spook at anything. He is comfortable around dogs and already accustomed to dogs or kids running around his feet and seems to approach life with a very laid back, very calm demeanor.
Sun Hunter was recently adopted by Roberta up in Gilbertsville, PA. There he is being much loved and spoiled, ridden bareback and western and having a ball teaching kids to be around horses and help riders regain confidence. Good luck, Sole!
Sole has been recognized as horse of the month by the NTRA: http://www.ntraaftercare.com/node/176.
