James Wilfred is a 15.3 hand solid chestnut gelding who is an absolute doll. Born on January 10, 2004, this 7 year old is ready to work his way into your heart. He is cute with a typey face, good confirmation, and a willing attitude. He will stand cross-tied for hours, or as long as you’re able to keep grooming him, something our volunteers seem to love to do. He loves cookies and peppermints and treats of all kinds and has a kind face and a good heart.
James Wilfred came to us with a bucked shin but has finished his stall rest and now enjoys daily turn out with the herd. Bucked shins are a common, though not severe, racing injury. Fully healed, JW has absolutely no limitations. We have been riding JW solely on trails so far, and he’s been doing phenomenal. Even on his first day back under saddle after several months off, he led the other horse he was with around our trails, ears forward, loose rein, just so happy to work. He’s since been ridden on trails at a walk and trot, and we’ve begun reintroducing a canter to his work. He has yet to look at anything on our trails and we certainly have plenty to look at.
James Wilfred was recently adopted by a wonderful family from Western, PA. They plan on enjoying him for many years to come as a trail horse and pleasure mount and hope their children can graduate onto him in the future for shows. His new family will also include two other very loved and spoiled horses who he can live and interact with.
