Sprig of Lilac – “Sprig”

Sprig of Lilac was a talented race horse that retired last spring. She won $200,908 at the track and was retired sound. Sprig was originally destined to be a broodmare in early 2010, but then came to us when that did not work out. We rode her while we could before winter hit and always enjoyed her. A barn favorite, she is a very quiet mare, very sweet, and very beautiful.

Sprig was adopted this past winter but was recently returned to us due to a death in the adoptive family. Upon her return to us she was much thinner than we’d like, but a vet check proved her sound and healthy otherwise. She’s home now, putting on weight and enjoying some downtime with the herd and a big pasture full of grass. We hope to have her back in shape in no time.

The next home Sprig travels to must be her last. This mare has changed hands more time than is fair for any horse and deserves only the best, lifelong home. She has experience jumping as high as 2 feet, has a solid walk/trot/canter and was doing a little dressage with her last owner.  She would be suitable for just about any discipline and has the looks to go a long way should her new life involve a show ring.

Sprig was adopted in August by Amy Updike. Sprig has moved with Amy to NJ where she will be spoiled rotten as an extreme pleasure horse, going on paper chases and trail rides with Amy and friends. We are so happy for Sprig and can’t wait to see photos as she goes on to her new life!
