While most horses at After the Races come to us directly from the track, Fiona was a special case. It’s not often we’re able to take in non-race horses but we could not say “no” to this girl. She appeared in auction, underweight, and was sold to buyers for slaughter. Thankfully she was quickly rescued from the kill pen and brought to us through another rescue.
At only 2 years old, Fiona is already at least 15.2 hands. She is a very cute mover, and a neat bay Hanovarian/Thoroughbred cross. This filly has a LOT of potential!

Fiona was adopted in August by Karen and Jay Raach in Pottstown, PA. We’ve been told Fiona has been doing great in her new home and has been started under saddle. True to form, she’s been easy to handle and appears to be easy to train and we can’t wait to see what a great mare she grows into!
